My take on the Quarians and a rant about Bioware and it’s portrayal of women.
Concept base for Quarians: If you were forced to conceal your face, wouldn’t you tailor your mask to resemble how you really look?
One other thing I cannot stand about the newest Bioware canon is the stupid image of Tali they tried to pass off as a Quarian.
It feels like alternate universe glamour Tali just dropped by space Sears and got a bunch of head shots done in front of a sunset holo.
There is so much that can be done with the Quarian appearance. It’s a shame Bioware just defaulted to a generic “human with markings” shin-dig.
Do ALL the LI’s classified as female need to look completely human in order to be attractive? I hope they didn’t fuck over the aesthetic and creative potential of a whole race just so the fan boys would have something to masturbate to.
Think about it:
Liara: looks Human
Jack: Human
Miranda: Human
Ashley: Human
Kelly Chambers: Human
Samantha Traynor: Human
Diana Allers: Human
Morinth or Samara: Looks Human
Even the Asari are completely identical to humans, sans the lack of hair and skin pigment. They have fucking EYEBROWS even. They don’t have hair.
Because Maker forbid a woman be slightly different than the accepted standard definition of beauty.
I mean if you wouldn’t fuck her what GOOD is she?
I really love diversity, I think the Mass Effect universe could use a little more Batarian and Turian or Yahg, than Human.
I couldn’t really capture that with my Quarian concept I know, they look really human. But that is the limits of myself as an artist, not my ideals.
